The Bold and the Beautiful
We may be in Georgia, but November means the temperature will dip below 60 degrees. Every day wear is shifting. With the first cold front of the season, Atlantans have switched their shorts and tank tops for beanies and jackets. I took to Tanger Boulevard to surmise whether it was cold enough to worry less about being a fashionista and worry more about keeping vital extremities in full function.

While shopping with her son at Tanger Outlets, I caught Sabrina Wells wearing this comfy outfit during one of the frigid days. Wearing a Victoria’s Secret jacket, an Amazon name shirt, Aerie leggings, a Louis Vuitton small backpack, and Nike sneakers. An outfit of comfort for shopping with an added pop of color and a touch of luxury. “Oh God, the one day where I’m not put together.” A sentiment that seemed to trend with each person. “I wear this bag every day, it’s the one luxury item that I have bought within recent years.” And she was rocking it! This outfit screams I will be outside for not long, but I still need to uphold an image. When mentioning the Aerie leggings, there was a hint of embarrassment about the item. I think in light of the recent events that have happened with American Eagle, it’s a harsh world to be a fan of the brand without some sort of wince. However, overall, this outfit is fun, comfortable, and cute enough not to feel like a lazy clothing choice.
I spoke with Tara Barnett on her way to work as a daycare provider. She dons a cute but casual outfit. At first glance, I wondered if the dress was enough for these weather changes, but paired with the boots and bag, it adds a rustic element that isn’t often seen in 2025 among many Atlantians. Wearing a dress from a Facebook online boutique, a bag from Amazon, and boots from Belks. “I bought this dress maybe two or three years ago, and now the boutique doesn’t exist anymore. And now I feel like it’s about to be too warm to wear this again, so we’ll see how today will go.” An effortless look for the fluctuating Georgia temperatures. “It’s too cold outside, but not cold enough inside for a jacket. The inside and the outside temperatures make it hard to pick an outfit.”

I also caught another daycare teacher, Michelle Fields-Simmons, on her way back to work, wearing a gray and cheetah print outfit. An elevated comfy-casual outfit that is easy to wear and able to put layers on top of in emergencies. To combat chasing children all day, Simmons wants to have a full range of motion in her body for quicker reactions. “When I saw this sweater in the store, I knew that I had to have it. I mean who doesn’t love cheetah print.” One could argue that the cheetah print helps her have laser focus in the classroom. Gray is a seemingly favorite color when the weather goes from extremely hot to extremely cold, and this outfit is an excellent example of gray chic. “I wanted an outfit that wasn’t too much for the kids to deal with and still be easy to throw on, incase of something going wrong.”
During most cold fronts in Georgia, the clothing reflects the transition between hot and freezing temperatures. Metro Atlanta, often confused with Atlanta by non-natives, has a sense of style that mirrors the Atlanta fashion scene but also adds their own sense of pizzazz. Don’t forget Metro Atlanta and Atlanta are cousins, not twins.
